This thesis will provide a brief historical background and analysis on my extended program notes. The following comprises the composers and musical works of this thesis: Antonio Vivaldi (March 4, 1678 – July 28, 1741), RV 46, Sonate VI; Domenico Scarlatti (October 26 1685 – July 23, 1757), Sonatas K.1, K.208, K.175; Giulio Regondi (1822 – May 6, 1872), Introduction et Caprice, Op. 23; Niccoló Paganini (October 27, 1782 – May 27, 1840), Caprice 24; Manuel Ponce (December 8, 1882 – April 24, 1948), Sonata III. The chosen repertoire demonstrates an understanding of contrasting styles of music, and an extended comprehension of classical guitar technique and repertoire. I will also be providing a more detailed analysis of Manuel Ponce’s Sonata III.
